Offline mode
The internet is not a dependency for trading. Sales continue while the connection is down and upload themselves when it returns — with explicit guards against charging a card twice.
- Your terminal, your negotiated rate
- No marketplace commission
- Gift card, loyalty and split tenders
What it does
Everything on this list is in the product today. What is not built is on the roadmap, not in this column.
- Offline mode across the point of sale The till keeps trading through the outage instead of turning the queue away.
- Deferred upload when the connection returns The sales taken offline arrive by themselves; nobody re-keys the afternoon.
- Terminal payment state tracked through a dropped connection The system knows what the terminal was doing when the line went, and resolves it.
- Explicit double-charge guards on unresolved terminal payments The worst outcome of an outage is charging a card twice. This is the code that stops it.
- Cash, gift and loyalty tenders unaffected by an outage The tenders that never needed the internet carry on as if nothing happened.
- Receipts printed locally over USB regardless of network The printer on the counter does not need the internet either.
An outage is a Saturday problem, not an IT problem
The connection never drops on a Tuesday morning. It drops at the busiest hour, with a queue at the counter, and the question is whether the business stops with it.
Groww POS keeps taking sales. The queue clears, the day closes, and the upload happens when the line comes back — without anybody being asked to write card numbers on paper.
The dangerous half is the card, not the calendar
Most “offline mode” claims cover the easy part: recording a sale locally. The hard part is a card payment that was authorised by the terminal while the app lost its connection.
Groww POS names that state rather than guessing at it. When a terminal payment has resolved but the backend save is unknown, the app tells staff explicitly not to retry the card. One clear sentence at the till prevents the double charge that a hopeful retry would cause.
Switch with zero downtime
Changing software mid-season is the thing every owner dreads. Here is exactly how it goes.
- 1
We import your data
Clients, services, staff, price list and future appointments — from a spreadsheet or an export from your current platform.
- 2
You keep trading
Run both systems for a week if you want. Nothing is switched off until your team says so.
- 3
Your terminal stays
Dejavoo or PAX — the hardware you already own and the rate you already have. No re-application, no new merchant account.
Questions we get asked
What happens to a card payment if the internet drops mid-transaction?
The terminal's state is tracked rather than assumed. If the payment resolved but the save status is unknown, the app says so explicitly and tells staff not to retry the card — which is the failure that costs a chargeback rather than a minute.
Can we keep trading through a full outage?
Yes. Sales continue and queue for upload. Cash, gift card and loyalty tenders need nothing external at all.
Do receipts still print?
Yes, over USB to a local ESC/POS printer. Network printers need the network.
Works with
- Point of sale A cart that holds services, retail, packages and deposits together, with multi-rate tax, promotions, tips and any combination of tenders settling in one transaction.
- Payments Run the Dejavoo or PAX terminal you already own, at the rate you already negotiated, with nothing held back for the privilege.
